EPFO 3.0 has yet to go live, and there’s no UPI or ATM withdrawal for members at this point, Mint reported. PF account holders looking for speedier withdrawals will need to wait. The snag hits the Employees’ Provident Fund, which holds savings from workers and employers. Faster withdrawals could help in emergencies, but would eat into retirement savings. mint
India may soon let EPF members move their PF funds directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, with UPI or ATM withdrawals an option, Live Hindustan and Mint reported. The proposal is still just a draft. Under the new rules, members might be able to access 50% to 75% of their EPF balance, while at least 25% would stay for retirement. Details on rollout and full guidelines aren’t out yet. Live Hindustan
EPF UPI withdrawals have finished testing, Labour Minister Mandaviya said.
UPI withdrawals from the Employees’ Provident Fund are set to roll out after finishing tests, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, according to PTI as cited by Moneycontrol. “We have completed the testing of the facility where members can withdraw EPF through the use of the UPI payment gateway. The withdrawn amount will be directly transferred into the bank account of the member,” Mandaviya told the agency. Once available, members will be able to see their eligible balance and use their UPI PIN for transfers, Moneycontrol reported. Moneycontrol
EPFO raised the auto-settlement ceiling on advance claims to ₹5 lakh, up from ₹1 lakh. Under this system, claims tied to illness, education, marriage or housing can get processed automatically, without any staff handling. In a release, EPFO said it expects faster payouts, with more cases set to clear within three days. That could matter for members needing quick funds for hospital bills, tuition fees, weddings, or home payments.
Medical withdrawals are drawing attention again after a Jagran piece flagged that PF advances for illness can be tapped using EPFO’s online channels, including the UMANG app. EPF rules right now let workers pull partial withdrawals for medical reasons—either for themselves or their close relatives—up to set caps. These medical loans are seen as most useful when hospital bills land unexpectedly, especially before EPFO 3.0 arrives. Jagran
EPFO members can’t use UPI or make ATM withdrawals just yet. Those options haven’t launched and remain under review. For the moment, stick to the main EPFO portals and use the existing online advance claim tools. More details are expected when the EPFO rolls out its EPFO 3.0 update. At that point, members should get details on withdrawal limits, authentication, and if ATMs will start allowing UPI transfers.
