- Axis Bank shares have traded higher this week, supported by optimism around loan growth and branch expansion.
- The lender continues to focus on retail, MSME and rural banking opportunities across India.
- Analysts remain broadly positive on the stock’s medium-term outlook.
Shares of Axis Bank Limited remained in focus this week after the stock advanced in recent sessions, reflecting investor confidence in the lender’s growth strategy and improving operating metrics. Axis Bank shares were trading around ₹1,314 on June 10, according to market data, marking a gain from levels seen earlier in the month.
The stock’s recent strength comes as investors continue to assess the bank’s growth prospects following its latest quarterly results and management’s expansion plans. Market data showed Axis Bank shares rising more than 1% during June 10 trading, with the stock moving within a range of approximately ₹1,283 to ₹1,326 during the session.
Axis Bank, India’s third-largest private-sector lender by market capitalization, reported fourth-quarter results in April that included strong loan and deposit growth despite a slight decline in net profit. The bank posted a 19% increase in loans and a 14% rise in deposits as of the end of March, while gross non-performing assets improved to 1.23% from 1.40% in the preceding quarter.
The lender also approved a fundraising plan of up to ₹200 billion through equity or related instruments, subject to regulatory approvals. Reuters reported that the bank’s quarterly profit was affected by lower treasury income and higher provisions, even as core banking activity remained resilient.
Investors have also been tracking the bank’s physical expansion strategy. Recent reports indicated that Axis Bank plans to add about 500 new branches during FY27 as it seeks to expand its presence across more districts and deepen penetration in rural and semi-urban markets.
Broker sentiment toward the stock remains largely constructive. Consensus estimates compiled by market research platforms show analysts maintaining price targets above current trading levels, reflecting expectations that loan growth, retail banking expansion and ongoing integration benefits from previous acquisitions could support earnings over the coming quarters.
Axis Bank’s market capitalization remains close to ₹4 trillion, underscoring its position as one of India’s largest banking institutions. The bank continues to compete aggressively across retail banking, credit cards, wealth management and corporate lending while investing in digital banking capabilities.
